Every year, millions of vulnerable people suffer heart attacks, falls, and medical emergencies alone.
Haelo changes that.
Delays in emergency response—especially in the critical first hour— dramatically reduce a person's chance of making a full recovery. This graph shows just how steep that drop-off is.
Data from PLOS Medicine (2020): Longer prehospital times are linked to significantly worse recovery outcomes.
Haelo is more than just asmart ring — it's a discreet, intelligent safety system thatcontinuously monitors health, detects emergencies, andalerts caregivers in real-time,ensuring your loved onesare always protected.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Hælo different from other smart rings?
Most smart rings focus on fitness tracking — steps, sleep, stress. Haelo is built for something more urgent: getting help to vulnerable people when they need it most. It's designed to be worn by elderly, chronically ill, or at-risk individuals — and it doesn't rely on the wearer pushing a button. It monitors health signals and motion passively, detects danger, and automatically alerts trusted contacts. Haelo is about prevention, protection, and peace of mind, not step counts.
Where does the name Hælo come from — and what does the joined 'ae' mean?
The name Haelo is inspired by the word "halo" — a symbol of protection, light, and presence. But the joined "ae" isn't just a visual twist. It connects two ideas: A for alerts and E for emergency. Together, they reflect Haelo's mission: to protect the people we love, quietly and constantly — with dignity, not disruption. The ring may look simple. But behind that joined ae is a powerful promise: Like the halo of a guardian angel, they're never alone.
What data does Hælo track?
Haelo monitors heart rate, blood oxygen, finger temperature, and motion patterns. It uses this data to detect risks, personalise alerts, and help loved ones understand the wearer's health trends.
I've seen that some elderly protection services come with very high monthly fees — what about Hælo?
Haelo is different. We're building it as a one-time purchase, with no subscription required for core features. You own the ring, and your loved one stays protected — without getting locked into expensive long-term contracts. While advanced services and additional features may be optional add-ons, but we strongly believe peace of mind shouldn't come with a monthly price tag.
I've seen some smartwatches offered by these services — how is Hælo different?
Setting aside the mandatory monthly fees that many providers charge, smartwatches can be useful — but they're often power-hungry, needing daily charging. Haelo lasts up to two weeks on a single charge. And because it's worn on the finger, it delivers more accurate readings thanks to thinner skin and better blood flow. It's also less obtrusive — users can keep wearing their own watch. Most importantly, while many smartwatches offer health tracking or fall detection, Haelo offers both, along with real-time alerts, in one discreet device built specifically for vulnerable people.
How come you don't charge monthly fees for the core features?
Most monitoring services rely on call centres — impersonal operators who don't know you, your health, or your family. We've removed that layer. Haelo alerts the people who matter most — the ones who want to know how you're doing. By shifting responsibility to trusted contacts instead of a paid middleman, we've eliminated the need for monthly fees, without compromising safety.
Does Hælo offer fall prevention — or just alerts after a fall?
Both. While real-time alerts help after a fall, Haelo's daily data can also highlight trends like slower movement, lower oxygen, or frequent imbalance, which might signal fall risk in advance — letting caregivers intervene early.
Who gets alerted in an emergency — and what do they see?
Haelo sends real-time alerts to your selected caregivers, family, or neighbours. They receive your live location, health readings, and a short context note (e.g. "fall detected" or "no movement") — so they know exactly how to respond.
What types of events can trigger an alert?
Alerts can be triggered by falls, abnormal heart data, or manual presses. The ring uses motion sensors, pulse oximetry, and ECG signals to detect potential emergencies before the user may even realise something is wrong
Can the ring still work if the wearer can't press anything?
Yes — that's the whole point. Haelo is built for people who can't always call for help. It works passively in the background and sends alerts automatically when it detects danger or distress.
Can Haelo be worn all the time — even at night?
Yes. Haelo is light, waterproof, and comfortable enough to be worn 24/7. Nighttime is often when health issues go unnoticed — so Haelo keeps watching even while the wearer sleeps.
What's the battery life?
Haelo lasts up to 20 days on a single charge, depending on the size of the ring (larger sizes allow for slightly larger batteries) and intensity of monitoring. It recharges in under 60 minutes via a magnetic charging puck.
Is it waterproof? Can they wear it in the shower?
Yes. Haelo is designed for everyday use — including showers, handwashing, and rainy days. It's also IP68 rated so you can take it swimming or into hot tubs (yet) - in other words, Haelo has been designed so you only need to take it off to charge.
How is Haelo different from a traditional panic button?
For one, it's automatically monitoring the wearer's health, with no input from them needed if the ring detects any unusual data. More functionally, unlike clunky devices that need to be pressed manually (and are often left unworn), Haelo looks like jewellery, is worn all the time, and uses real health data to detect problems early. No button needed.
What if none of my contacts respond to the notifications?
Haelo is designed to reach the people you trust first — but we also know life happens. If no one responds, the system can escalate: sending repeat alerts, expanding to a backup list, or even contacting your professional caregivers. We are also working on adding optional integrations with professional response services for those who want an added final layer of protection. Haelo starts with your circle, but it doesn't stop there.
So I can have different people contacted at different times?
Yes. In the Haelo app, you can set up a notification chain — so alerts go to one person first, then another if there's no response within a set time. You can also send alerts to multiple people at once, and soon you'll be able to customise who gets notified depending on the type of event (like a fall vs. low oxygen). It's built to fit your support network, however it's structured.
Does Haelo require a smartphone?
Yes — a smartphone is required for initial setup and to relay alerts. But after setup, the wearer doesn't need to interact with the phone or app at all. The ring communicates key information through simple LED signals — like when it needs charging, when it's out of range, or when an emergency is detected. Caregivers continue to receive alerts in real time, even if the wearer never touches the app again.
Can Haelo be used for people with dementia or memory loss?
Yes — Haelo is ideal for individuals who may not remember to ask for help. It works silently in the background, detecting serious issues like falls or sudden health changes, and alerts caregivers automatically — no action required from the wearer. If the ring is removed or goes offline for too long, contacts are notified. And because Haelo is discreet and familiar-looking, there's less chance of it being taken off or resisted, even by those who struggle with cognitive conditions.
What if the person removes the ring?
We all have forgetful moments. As above, both the user (via the ring, and their phone). The system knows when the ring has been removed for too long and can send a soft alert to caregivers if it hasn't been worn or charged.
What happens if the ring loses connection?
If Haelo disconnects from the phone or network, the LED will glow blue. If the connection isn't restored soon, your trusted contacts will be notified that the ring is offline — giving them a chance to check in proactively.
What if none of my contacts respond to the notifications?
Haelo is designed to reach the people you trust first — but we also know life happens. If no one responds, the system can escalate: sending repeat alerts, expanding to a backup list, or triggering location sharing for wider awareness. We're also exploring optional integrations with professional response services for those who want an added layer of protection. Haelo starts with your circle, but it doesn't stop there.
What about privacy and data security?
Your data is encrypted and stored securely. Only people you approve can access your health alerts or location. Haelo is compliant with relevant privacy standards, and you can delete your data at any time.
Can Haelo work internationally?
Yes — alerts can be sent across borders as long as the ring has internet access via the connected phone. This is perfect for expat families, travelling carers, or loved ones living abroad.
